Little, Julie-Anne Dr
Lecturer in Optometry

Academic and Professional Qualifications
Dr. Little has a PhD in Vision Science and was appointed lecturer at the University of Ulster in 2007.
She is a GOC registered Optometrist in the UK with a special interest in paediatric vision and complex neurological impairment.
She is a member of the College of Optometrists and is a Councillor for the Association of Optometrists.
She is a UK representative on the European Council of Optometry & Optics and the World Council of Optometry.
Dr Little is a member of the Higher Education Academy and has a post-graduate certificate in higher Education. She is a member of the Biomedical Science Research ethics filter committee.
Research Interests
Dr Littleās research interests include the developing visual system and the impact of intellectual disability on vision.
She is also interested in how the structure of the eye impacts on functional vision.
She is part of the Paediatric Vision Research group
Dr Little has an honorary contract with the Royal Victoria Hospital as a specialist optometrist.

Teaching and Learning Activities
Course Director for the MSc/PgDip/PgCert in Clinical Visual Science
BSc (Hons) Optometry: Module coordinator for Dispensing Practice and Lecturer for General Examination Techniques, Ocular Disease, and also contributes to Patient Management. She supervises undergraduate research projects.
Dr Little runs a specialist clinic at the University Optometry Clinic for children with reading difficulties
